News from this weekend. Mom Celebrated one year of Sobriety
She has been sober for one year. I am so proud of her. She has gone through a whole lot to get to where she is now. We went to her Celebration yesterday at her AA meeting. I was so proud. It was a very emotional night. Just hearing everyone's stories made me think. There was one girl who was my age that told her story. I just could not get over that she was my age. I always thought that it was just older people that suffer from alcoholism but in reality anyone can suffer from it. It can affect anyone at any age. They talk about taking it one day at a time and that they can not do it without the help of God. It was just amazing how each one of them know that they can not do it without prayer and God. I need to take things one day at a time. Just like they do. They say that if they stay sober all day then they had a good day. I guess I can never imagine how hard it must be for them, for my mom. I am just so happy that she is getting her life together. Those people there are truly an inspiration. When I saw my mom get up there and hear her say, Hello my name is Sylvia, and I am an alcoholic, I swear a chill ran down my spine. Just to hear those words come out of her mouth made it all real.
